Installed process equipment is usually designed, sized and configured to a specific requirement. Over time, as the throughput increases, different ore bodies are processed or simple wear and tear takes its toll. The equipment and process efficiencies gradually deteriorate and in some cases the equipment design simply does not suit that application. As a solution, the immediate reaction is to add more reagents, replace the equipment with the latest technology, or install a larger unit that accommodates the increased volume.
