Rake Drive Systems

The MINEXXT rake drive system comprises a Hagglund’s hydraulic drive motor which is mounted on a rake lift/lower base on the top of the thickener bridge. The base is fitted with guide blocks, hydraulic cylinders and limit switches that absorb the torque, lift and lower the rakes and limit the vertical stroke of the cylinders. The drive rotation and lift/lower function are both power by a hydraulic power pack that also mounts on the bridge. Hydraulic pressure is directly proportional to the torque loads on the drive system, this method provides a very accurate measurement for controlling the rake lift/lower functions to protect the drive from over torquing. The rake drive torque is closely monitored by our integrated control system to protect the mechanism. As the torque increases the alarms will sound and the rakes will lift, they will continue to lift until the torque is reduced below the setpoint. Once the torque has stabilized and begins to decrease, the rake arms will automatically lower ~6 mm every rotation until they reach the lower limit. All four signals are displayed locally on the control panel and also retransmitted to a local DCS if available.
