A control panel is mounted to the walkway on the bridge. The control logic can either be relay, PLC, or driven from the existing DCS. An ultrasonic bed level detector has been included to be mounted to the bridge and monitors the interface level of the settling solids. This 4-20mA loop controls the flocculant addition based on the height of the interface level. A bed mass transducer is also provided which is fitted to the underflow cone for measuring the mass of material within the thickener. The 4-20mA loop from the bed mass instrument controls the speed of the underflow pumps to maintain a consistent density. A rake height probe is also provided and fitted to the mechanism to monitor its vertical position.
